2023 Summer Recap

This summer was full of baby snuggles for the Shoges, who welcomed their 4th daughter Remi Noelle on June 5th. They have been blessed by multiple family visits this summer to meet the newest addition to the family. Adjusting to 4 kids has taken some time but the older sisters are great helpers and love doting on their adorable baby sister.

We held a big skate jam on Go Skate Day (6/21) at Crompton Skatepark, partnering with our local skate shop. In the month of July, we did weekly trips to Crompton giving out hotdogs, chips, and drinks, and connected with whoever was there. We also went to Boston and Framingham, skated, connected with skaters, and shared the Gospel.

Since Summer is a great time to skate outside and connect with skaters at different outdoor parks and spots we teamed up with SCAB (Skate Church Around Boston) to be a light in the biggest city in New England. We were only to help out a few times because of schedules but we definitely plan to do more next Summer

AC Update:

Not everything went as planned this Summer season. It rained SO much which meant a lot of skaters wanting to come skate the park but it was so hot and humid that we were closed a lot. We raised money and planned to install mini-splits so that we could utilize the park throughout the Summer, especially for the Summer camps we were planning. But…

We ran into an issue with our electric panel not having enough power for the two compressors we would need. It took a while just to get a rough estimate about how much it would cost to have more power run to our space ~ $2,900 just for labor and probably another $1,000 for parts.

By the time we got those quotes, we already had to cancel camps and felt it didn’t make sense to invest almost $15,000 into AC for what was left of the Summer. We will plan for AC this coming Spring and be ready to do camps and other fun events at the park.

This Summer was fun but we are ready to fill the park again!
